Now that it’s been announced, it’s time to take a look at which of the exclusive information about the secret project – now under the name The High Republic Publishing Project – we published in early 2020 turned out to be true and which did not.
As you may remember, we were the first to write about Project Luminous in details in early January, based on the info from our source with an insight to the work of Lucasfilm. Our info about the era was later confirmed by MakingStarWars.net (quoting us), and one of the most important SW-YouTubers, Star Wars Explained posted a video about the information we had acquired. Also, many Hungarian and international Star Wars portals quoted the English version of our article in the last two months.
A lot of portals post exclusive information (or looking like exclusive) but never perform self-checks afterwards. We aim to be pioneers in this regard as well, hence the motto of our site, fighting against fake news since last May: “Bringing order to the chaos!” So we now take a look at which of our information was confirmed by the official announcement of Project Luminous.
Lucasfilm “started designing a huge project years ago”
– we wrote in January. According to the official announcement, the company started working on Project Luminous in 2014, so we got this detail right.
“Our informant said that the new, connected multiplatform story will be set 3-400 years BEFORE the Skywalker-saga”,
we said in our article early this year. On Monday’s event, it was announced that the stories of the High Republic will be set 200 years before The Phantom Menace, but the announcement only included book projects (not necessarily meaning that it will not become multiplatform later). So we got the setting of the story right, it is set hundreds of years before the Skywalker-saga.
“The plot would involve a group of Jedi setting out to explore the then-unknown regions of the Galaxy”,
we wrote, and this also checks out, as a part of the story will include the Jedi exploring the Outer Rim territories.
“According to our informant, the Jedi would get involved in numerous adventures and conflicts with three different types of enemies, the darkest being ancient evils, Sith gods of some sort”,
our article in January stated. Well, the enemies of the Jedi were announced to be the Nihil on Monday, but that’s all we got, so we can’t say for sure if our info about this part was right or not.
“…these stories would be separate, but also connected”,
we said. This seems to be correct, as the announced novels and comics will be interconnected.
“The main Jedi characters would also have different strengths and powers, similar to superheroes”,
our exclusive article stated. So far, we don’t know anything about the powers of the High Republic Jedi.
“…our informant said that its first product will be a video game in 2021”,
we said, and this turned out to be false, as the first product of Project Luminous will be published in August, two days before the Celebration, written by Charles Soule.
In conclusion, we can say that
our information turned out to be correct in general terms: we got the era and the focus of Project Luminous right.
It seems, however, that it will be a novel-comic book project, and not a multiplatform one – but this could change at any time.
