Csilla Tornallyay was Base 3rd Assistant Director at the additional photography of The Rise of Skywalker. She told us how they shot the scene where Luke Skywalker can be seen sitting on a rock.
There were a couple of Hungarians who worked on the last episode of the Skywalker saga. Among them, we got to chat to Csilla Tornallyay first in December. She worked on the additional photography of the movie as the Base 3rd Assistant Director. In our interview – which can be read in Hungarian here –, she told us that she did not see the film at that time, but she remembered they shot some additional scenes with Palpatine.
Well, since then Csilla managed to see the movie. Recently she told Ziro.hu that when she saw the last scenes of Luke Skywalker, they were familiar to her. This part of the story takes place in Ahch-To, a planet which was shot in Skellig Michael beforehand. But parts of this scene wasn’t shot on that Irish island.
It was shot in a parking lot in Shepperton Studios, half an hour from Pinewood Studios.
According to Csilla Tornallyay, they needed to record the scene at 5 AM to have the required light conditions. Mark Hamill – who was transported at some parts of the production in a golf cart by Csilla – sat on an apple basket in a secluded parking lot. And they shot while he was playing his last scene in the Skywalker saga. (And the experts of the ILM probably composited him later in the scene which took place in Ahch-To – the editor’s note.)
Otherwise, Csilla told Ziro.hu that it can be seen on the 68 years old Mark Hamill, that he is becoming older. He has pain everywhere in his body, and he treats his colleagues kindly or a bit rudely according to his day and mood.
